Today I wanted to share and bring back one of the very first paintings I have painted for my Panda Perspective Series. This painting I remember making because I wanted to paint a series about the problems I face as a little person. Well one thing I do get annoyed about is when people compare “Midgets” with “Oompa Loompas“. No you assholes, I am not orange with green hair, nor do I work in a Chocolate factory. This was brought up today at work because my coworkers had a funny thought in their heads. I had to laugh because if someone did this to me, I honestly would just laugh out loud. They thought that one of these days If i got blacked out drunk, they will dye my hair green and spray tan me orange. So that when I wake up I would be an OOMPA LOOMPA. Gotta say that is pretty funny and clever.

Back to the painting, I created this because I hate being compared to one, even though I laugh about it. Pandas have become the symbol for my life as they are asian, they are rare like me in this world, and they are very special as told by my mother. Therefore i feature them in a lot of my work. In this painting, I have them dressed up as Oompa Loompas hung up. My point? Midgets don’t like being compared to one and that is one problem we face daily.

You have a gift and I’m glad you personalize it with such a back story. I’ll keep an eye out for any panda related art works and I’ll let you know.
